# Thread: Upper and lower integrals

1. ## Upper and lower integrals

I have figured out that I can get $\displaystyle \int\limits_-$ by using $$\int\limits_-$$ and $$\displaystyle \int\limits_\text{ }^- by \int\limits_\text{ }^-$$. Is there an easier way to do this that looks nicer? Like the line is closer to the integral. And is it possible to have the integral have limits but still have the over and under bars?

2. Hello bro,

$\displaystyle \overline{\int^b_a} f(x) dx$
and $\displaystyle \underline{\int^b_a}$?

Code:
\overline{\int^b_a} f(x) dx
\underline{\int^b_a} f(x) dx

Alternatively
$\displaystyle \overline{\int}^b_a f(x) dx$
( \overline{\int}^b_a ) in my opinion this is crap.

regards,
Rapha

Haha, I would have to agree with you on that one . Thank you very much for your time and effort though

4. That is a tricky problem. How about this? $\displaystyle \lower3ex\hbox{--}\kern-.5em\int_a^{\,b} \quad \raise3.2ex\hbox{--}\kern-1.2em\int_a^{\,b}$

$$\lower3ex\hbox{--}\kern-.5em\int_a^{\,b} \quad \raise3.2ex\hbox{--}\kern-1.2em\int_a^{\,b}$$
