Thread: is there a real time preview of latex code

for example as i type
E = (\frac{1+\sqrt 3 i}2)^n+(\frac{-1+\sqrt 3 i}2)^n
it would show the result immediate on each character i enter so that i don't need to click the preview post button ten times before i can post my question! thanks!

I'm not sure it is possible. When you preview, the LaTeX code is sent to the server which compiles it and creates the images with the formulas that appear in your posts. Then, the images are sent to you so that you can see them. A real time preview would require that this happens each time you type a character : it might cost much CPU time (because of compilation) and bandwidth. (because of the images)

Anyway, with time, you'll improve your LaTeX skills and won't need to preview as often as now.

Try building the expression in MathType of TeXaide (Google for them). Then copy and past the code here (you will have a few modifications to make to the delimiter though)

but MathType of TeXaide is for changing the output to code. i want to know if there's a software which can change the input (code) to equation at real time. for example, when i use openoffice math it shows up the equation at real time as i type in the code . however the code in openoffice math is completely different from latex and cannot be used in this forum. sometimes i hit the preview post button and it says syntax error but i don't know where the error is! is there any software of latex which can provide immediate preview as well as debug hint which tell where the error is just like turbo pascal does?
