When I try to input something like 32^(1.4) into LaTeX it comes out like $32^1.4$ How do I get it to post in the correct format?

thanks!

Because $1.4=\frac{7}{5}$ then $32^{\frac{7}{5}}=\sqrt[5]{32^7}=2^7$

To see the LaTeX click the reply with quote option. When the is more that one character in an exponent use {}.
