Curly braces between MATH tags cause unknown error.
Hi:
I am sending the whole text bellow:
Hi:
In the book The Theory of Finite Groups: An Introduction, by Hans Kurzweil and Bernd Stellmacher, New York, 2004, in section 1.6, Products of Groups, there is Exercise 3:
Let
be finite. Suppose that every maximal subgroup of
is simple and normal in
. Then
is an Abelian group and
, where
are primes.
END OF TEXT
'and [LaTeX ERROR: Unknown error] , ' should be replaced by 'and MATH_TAG \{ \} /MATH_TAG, '
Would you be so nice to tell me what to do?
EDIT
More simple than that: the following text:
]MATH[ \{ ]MATH[
causes LaTeX ERROR: Unknown error. I wrote inverted square brackets on purpose, only here.

We're using [tex]*insert latex here*[/tex] as a "temporary" fix.
Note I've edited the quoted post to use tex tags
When I use [tex] tags I get an error:
[tex]\Delta P = \rho g \Delta h[/tex] ---->
[tex]\Delta P = \rho g \Delta h[/tex] --->
edit: math tags are working again (Even in part)? That's news to me. But using tex tags still seems to solve your problem
Re: Curly braces between MATH tags cause unknown error.
Thanks a lot. In the Latex Help forum, I've just seen someone posted a forum-wide announcement, regarding this matter. Do you know where it is located?
And, if you don't mind: what's the latex string for 'normal in', as in H normal in G?

This thread is now in the LaTeX area of MHF, look about six threads down and you will find what you want.
