I notice that in some posts on Linear and Abstract Algebra there is sometimes an image posted in the middle of the text. This also occurs in the algebra solutions posted on Project Crazy project - for example see
Schanuel’s Lemma « Project Crazy Project
(This example seems to be a PNG image)
I know how to upload a pdf image to MHF but how do you arrange to have a small image in the text of a post - would be really helpful for the commutative diagrams of groups that you get in exact sequences and homology.
I am also looking for help in how to scan and reduce the size of an image as that seems to be part of what is done
Is what is required a copy and paste operation?

EDIT - PS
I have now made a JPEG image of page 403 of Dummit and Foote and I have selected the commutative diagram of groups in Exercise 1 and created a small PNG image - I then used the "insert image" icon to upload a copy of the diagram as a PNG image. However the image did not display as open in the post but only as a file to be opened. I wish to have the actal diagram displayed without readers having to open a file.
see my post "Test only - please ignore"
so a key question is - how do you get the image dispayed in the post?
Peter
