Keeping latex elements in alignment with non-latex elements
I have noticed that in posting to the MHF in Linear and Abstract Algebra the latex text ends up higher or lower than the non-latex text and thus looks poorly aligned and is not as clear as it might be

For example sr^3 comes out as s $r^3$

Can anyone give me a way to avoid such mis-alignment

let s in the
$sr^3$
$sr^3s^5$

you can write in latex using \text{you statement}

$\text{Like ThIs}$

and there is a command which allow you to make spaces \;

$D_8 = \{ 1,r,r^2,r^3,s,sr,sr^2,sr^3\}$

I used \{ to write {
