# Math Help - how to write with latex of the forum

i saw once a buttons here on bottom
which were latex bottons

and they dissapear

where are they now
the latex option of the forum is better then my software
how to find it here
so i press on th boton and the symbol apears on my post?

The forums own LaTeX system is currently inoperative and we are using an external source.

You need to type LaTeX source code as described in the LaTeX tutorials, but rather than enclose them between  tags you need to use  tags.

These can be placed automatically around the LaTeX source by selecting the source and then clicking on the rightmos tex button on the button bar in the advanced editor.

The LaTeX buttons to which you refer were originally put there by MathGuru, the owner of MHF. I personally think they were a great idea, and would definitely help out people trying to learn LaTeX. The problem with them, however, was that half of the pictures were broken, thus rendering most of the buttons useless. Another admin, probably either Chris L T521 or janvdl, got rid of them, at least temporarily.

Because they were causing the preview/posting/editing slow down, right?
