Thread: Starting A Document

OK, I'm trying to type up a file for some homework, but when I export it to a PDF all I get is nothing but the commands (i.e. no symbols or anything).

I'm in Mac OS X, and have the package MacTeX downloaded. Am I missing something in my "usepackage" statement? I just typed \usepackage{mactex}, is this wrong?

Help!

Did you write \begin{document} and \end{document} ? \documentclass{article} ? \usepackage{geometry} ? \geometry{a4paper} ?
