Strikethrough text
This is more bbcode rather than LaTeX, but it seemed this was nevertheless the best subforum to post this question in.

Is it possible to do strikethrough text on this forum? Sometimes the codes are or [strike][/strike] but I tried and neither worked.

A way in LaTeX would be cool too, but bbcode is more what I was after.

Thanks.

There is a list of allowed bbcode commands for this forum (click on "BB code" in the bottom left corner of this page). It does not include anything for strikethrough.

You can sort of do strikethrough in LaTeX but it's laborious and not very effective: $\not s\!\!\!\not t\!\!\!\not r\!\!\!\not i\!\!\!\not k\!\!\!\not e\!\!\!\not t\!\!\!\not h\!\!\!\not r\!\!\!\not o\!\!\!\not u\!\!\!\not g\!\!\!\not h$. It's easier to do a horizontal line through text in LaTeX: $\rlap{\vrule height3pt depth-2.5pt width5.75em}\text{strikethrough}$.

Hello, undefined!

There is a way in LaTeX . . .

[math ] xyz [/tex] produces: . $xyz$

[math ] \rap{/} xyz [/tex] produces: . $\rlap{/}xyz$

[math ] \rlap{//} xyz[/tex] produces: . $\rlap{//}xyz$

[math ] \rlap{///} xyz [/tex] produces: . $\rlap{///}xyz$

. . . $\frac{1\rlap{/}6}{\rlap{/}64} \;=\;\frac{1}{4}$

\rlap can be used to overwrite anything with anything.

. . . ${\color{red}\rlap{RED}} black$

$\rlap{\text{---------}}\text{testing}$

Thanks for the replies!

The above way seems to work too.

Code: \rlap{\text{---------}}\text{testing}

Had to experiment to get appropriate number of hyphens.
