Put a backslash before the lim to make this display better: \lim_{x \to 2} f(x) produces $\lim_{x \to 2} f(x)$.

You cannot use [fornt=..]..[/font] inside math-tags, only LaTeX math-mode commands/codes (that also means no formatting from the button bar at the top of the input window).

Here are a few :

\mathit{***math stuff***} for italics
\mathbf{***math stuff***} for bold font

They are standard LaTeX commands but I haven't tried them on MHF though.

$\mathbf{bold}$

Another one is \color{red} with some other colors available.

$\color{red}x=\frac{\color{black}5y^2}{\color{blue} 2z}$
