    Solving catenary and parabola problem

    Hello all.
I'm trying to figure out how to solve this combination of catenary and parabola problem using MatLab. I've got an hint about use the in-built function bvp4c, however I'm struggling with the transformation of 2nd order ODE to 1st order ODE. The aim is to evaluate the horizontal force in the cable knowing the span length, the h at the end.
Any hints will be much appreciated.

I doubt you are going to get many responses requiring people to download a pdf file. I am responding because, since I have very good anti-virus software, I did choose to download and then open the file. But it was a waste of time because the handwritten material is so light, on white paper, as to be unreadable. If you want someone to help you you will need to take the trouble to make a clear picture then use the "insert image" button (above, a picture of a tree) to insert the image directly here.
