For the volume, have you ever heard of Archimedes and his eureka moment? Doesn't need any formulas.

3. Ok, so I just read the wikipedia for it. If I submerge the football into water and calculate the water displaced will be equal to the volume of the football? Is this correct? How do I find the area?

4. If we pretend that the football is a sphere, we can indeed use formulas on how to get its area and volume. Remember that both are functions of the radius.

5. The formulas for volume and surface area of an "ellipsoid" might be more accurate.
