    geometry prob

    A cylinder whose base radius 3 is inscribed in a sphere of radius 5. What is the difference between the volume of the sphere and the volume of the cylinder?

    Imagine the cylinder and now think in a triangle: hypotenuse=5, cathetus 1=3 and cathetus 2=xby pythagorean theorem: x = 4Volume of the esphere=4/3*pi*5^3=167piVolume of the cylinder=(pi*3^2 )*2x = 72pi[2x is the height of the cylinder]So the diference is: 167pi-72pi=95pi
