    Find Volume of extruded box

    Hi:

    I would like to find the volume for an extruded box shaped object.

    It is 14.5ft Wide x 11ft Height on one end
    18ft Wide x 11ft height on the other end
    The length is 42ft.

    Volume = ?

    Thank you for your help.

    Hi fractal,

    Is this your box? If so, it looks like a right prism with isosceles trapezoidal bases. Easy to find the volume if that's the case. And I'm confused about the box length. Is it the lateral length or the perpendicular distance between the two trapezoidal bases?

    So a cross-section is a trapezoid with bases of length 15.5 and 18 and height 11. The area of that is "average base" times height: (15.5+ 18)/2 times 11. The volume is that area time the length of 42 feet.
