    Question base of a rectangular box is 4 inches by 2 inches. What is the height of the box...

    The base of a rectangular box is 4 inches by 2 inches. What is the height of the box if the volume is 48 cubic inches?
    A. 6
    B. 12
    C. 8
    D. 24


    I tried drawing a box and labeling the numbers but I do not understand what to do withe volume. Like should i do 4+4+2+2*48?

    Could you please explain how to start working this problem.

    If the bases' dimensions are a and b, and if the height is c, the volume is:

    V = abc

    Now, we know that V = 48, and that a = 4 and b = 2, so that means:

    48 = 4(2)c

    Solve for c.

    And that is the height. So the answer is a.
