Thread: Help with square inscribed in circle

I am not sure how to figure this problem out and I have looked all through my math book and cannot find it!

Q: In the figure shown, square wxyz is inscribed in circle O. Also, OM ⊥ XY and OM=2. Find the area of the shaded region.

shaded area = circle area - square area

hint ... a square is also rhombus. does your text have an area formula for a rhombus based on the length of its diagonals?

Use pythagore's theorem to find the radius of the circle (half the diagonal).
