    Similar Triangles

    I have two problems:

1.Given 2 similar triangles, ABCand KJI, with AB = 7.9cm; AC = 3.8cm; BC = 4.8cm and JK = 5.7cm. Determine the lengths of the unknown sides.

    -----------

    2. A tunnel must be made through a hill. As a result, a surveyor and an engineer create a sketch of the area. The sketch, displayed below, includes information they have either researched or measured. They need to build a tunnel from the point E to the point H on the sketch. Calculate the distance from E to H. When similar triangles are used, explain how you know they represent similar triangles before performing the calculation.

as stated, there are actually 3 answers to this problem, depending on if JK is the shortest, medium, or longest side of triangle KJI. but in any case, similar triangles mean that all sides and angles are proportional.

    for instance, we can have AB/IJ = BC/JK = AC/IK

and you can solve for the unknowns using that system of equations

I'm afraid I can't see it either. Please use the forum's attachment manager rather than uploading it to a website?

note that triangles ILS, FHS, and GLE are similar. with that, you can find the lengths of SL and EL.

Now, EH = SL - EL - SH

    that is, EH = SL - EL - 380

    can you finish?
