    Area Question

A square of 64cmSQUARED is cut to make two rectangles, A and B.
Heres a picture I made of the picture on the sheet.

the 3:1 shows that area A to area B is 3:1.
    Then it says
"Work out the dimensions of rectanges A and B

Each 3rd would be 2.6cm horizontal
    and 8 vertical.
    I THINK.
But what would I put for dimensions?
    The answer box has:

    "Rectangle A: _____cm by _____cm"
    "Rectange B: _______cm by ______cm"

    Thanks

A makes up 3/4 of the rectangle, and B makes up 1/4.

    64 = Length ^2

So Length of each side = 8 units.

    If A is 3/4 of 8, then A's sidelength = 6 and B's sidelength = 2.

    A's area is therefore 6x8 = 48
    B's area is therefore 2x8 = 16

Together it is 64 units squared.
