    geometry

    I've been trying to figure out this for the past week.
    It seems like the answer is painfully ovbious, but it confused me. ~.~;

    Question:

    Ed has a 5 m ladder in his garage. He wants to use the ladder to clean his eavestrough, which is 4 m above the ground. If he positions the ladder 1.5m from the base of his house, will the ladder touch the top of his eavestrough?
    A diagram is given to assist you. Justify the Solution.

    Do you know Pythagorean theorem?
     c = \sqrt{a^2 + b^2}=\sqrt{1.5^2+4^2}=\sqrt{18.25}<\sqrt{25}=5

    That's what I came up with first.
    But the answer was so ovbious..
    Since they already mentioned the latter was 5 m?
