    Hello, kerilynn!

    Did you make a sketch?

    In parallelogram ABCD: .AB = 2x + 5, ./ BAC = 2y, ./ B = 120, ./ CAD = 21, .CD = 21
    Find x and y.
    Code:
              B *-----------------* C
               / 120 * /
              / * /
        2x+5 / * / 21
            / 2y * /
           / * 21 /
        A *-----------------* D

Opposite sides of a parallelgram are equal.

    . . Hence: .2x + 5 .= .21 . . x = 8

Adjacent angles of a parallelogram are supplementary.

    . . Hence: .(2y + 21) + 120 .= .180 . . y = 19.5
