I'm having trouble with two problems that have tangents.

1. Given: The radius of circle O is 0.7; The radius of circle P is 1.1; Line AB is a common internal tangent; AB = 2.4
Find: a. OP; b. The distance between the circles.

2. Given: Diagram as marked with line PA and line PD tangent to circle O.
Find: a. arc AD; b. measure of angle P

Since the line AB is tangent to both circles we know that the line segment from the center of the circle to the tangent lines are right angles.
So the above triangles have three equal angles so they are similar triangles.

so

$\frac{x}{.7}=\frac{y}{1.1}$ and $x+y=2.4$

Just solve this system Good luck.
