If the square has a perimeter of y, then the side length is (y/4) and the area is (y/4)^2 If AC = 2BC, then the area of the right triangle is (1/2) 2BC x BC, wchich is (BC)^2. If the areas are the same then: (y/4)^2 = (BC)^2 y/4 = BC
(b) Y/4 Imagine it like this... Here we can clearly see that 4BC makes up the perimeter of the square, Y. So Y/4 = BC
