kastamonu, I have to agree with greg. Help us help you. You clearly tried things when you attempted the problem. Tell us some things you tried that did not work. Tell us some progress you made, but you are not sure where to go from there. Did you figure out that two angles are equal? Tell us that. Did you figure out that there are similar triangles? Tell us that. This way, we do not have to duplicate your efforts! We will not be wasting our time trying the same techniques you already know did not pan out! Why are you trying to waste our time?

I didvided the figure into 6 parts. My aim is ABCE-BCE. This is what I thought. I know the area of BCE. I am looking for a ratio between sides.

In the question there is no ratio between sides. Areas are equal between parallel lines.

We let h and k be the distances from C and D to the side BE

4 = area BCF - area BDF = 1/2 (h - k) a

Use the proportion
