    Question Need help in creating an expression.

    Hello All,


    I need help to get expressions for Ain and Aout as seen in diagram in the link. I have been racking my brain for the past few hours but am getting nowhere.
    Your help is much appreciated.

    Hey rohn52.

    I think it's fair for us to get you to show an attempt.

    As a hint though, you should try and look at each intersection and reduce that to a list of equations.

    You have an arc [generated by some circles circumference], a bunch of right angled triangles, and a lot of intersections within them.

    You should try by using that information to find the intersections.

    Update: Sorry, i jotted down the eq. of z incorrecly... it should be
    z = R - sqrt(R^2 - (Fw'-n)^2)
