Math Help - how to draw in 3D

1. how to draw in 3D

how do I draw in 3D a parabolic cylinder $y^2 = 8x$ in the first octant bounded by the planes y = 4 and z = 6? Also, what is the name of the topic that has these things such as hyperbolic paraboloids, and other 3d forms, etc I dont know how to look for it.. Also how do I convert this into an explicitly defined function(e.g. Z = f(x,y) ) so that I can graph this on my math software (MathGV).

2. Re: how to draw in 3D

Draw parabol y^2=8x draw line y=4. Trasform it into plane Oxy Draw line rectangular to Ox axis length 8 and in its second end draw that same parabol

4. Re: how to draw in 3D

rotate this Parabol 90 degrees. It has positive coefficient, nd powered is Y

5. Re: how to draw in 3D

So I guess the shape is correct but only the orientation is wrong? my coordinate system is as follows:
rightwards is positive Y. leftwards is negative Y, upwards is positive Z, downwards is positive Z, Moving towards me is positive X, and moving away from me is negative X.

yes
