# Math Help - Pleas Help! With volume question

1. ## Pleas Help! With volume question

Mr Thorpe has arectangular lap pool that is 2 metres wide, 2 metres deep and 10 metres longwhich is filled to a depth of 1.7 m. Mr Thorpe climbs into the pool andsubmerges for ten seconds while his son measures the new depth at 173 cm.Calculate Mr Thorpe’s volume.

2. ## Re: Pleas Help! With volume question

Before Mr. Thorpe got in the pool, the volume of water was $2 \times 10 \times 1.7$ cubic meters. After he gets in the pool, the volume is $2\times 10\times 1.73$ cubic meters. Where do you think that extra volume came from?

3. ## Re: Pleas Help! With volume question

From Mr. Thorpe. Would I be correct in thinking the answer is 0.6 just want to be correct before I submit. 2 x 10 x 1.7 =34 2 x 10 x 1.73= 34.6 34.6-34 =0.6 cubic metres?

4. ## Re: Pleas Help! With volume question

Yes that is correct (although some more spaces would have been nice to be able to differentiate between your different equations >_< ).
