    Is this a helix?

Hi. I uploaded an animation to wiikimedia - I wasn't sure what to call it so I described it as a helix (or a composition of them). But after reading the definition on wikipedia of a helix, I'm not quite sure.

    https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Var-helix.ogv

If not - I'm wondering what might be a better name to call the structure.

To my best of knowledge, your animation portrays a quadruple-helix..

    Re: Is this a helix?

My particular concern, I think, is from the wikipedia assertion that "[The helix] has the property that the tangent line at any point makes a constant angle with a fixed line called the axis." In my particular figure, the distance of each line from the axis decreases or increases as z increases. But I cannot tell intuitively how that affects the tangent line relative to the axis.

But the angle remains constant, yes?
