Hi all, I am lost with this whole thing. Showed it to my uncle who teaches math at a college, and he does not even know how to do it . Hopefully the image is ok, as the other came out sideways. What can I say, I am a noob.

Simplicity is the key words tha makes mathematics so nice.........
the 3 'whites' triangles ( not shaded) are similar with the triangle ABC with ratio 1/3 therefore the ratio between their areas is 1/9.
3 triangles X 1/9 gives an area of 1/3 of the original triangle ABC. what is left is the area of the hexagon which is of cource 2/3 of the area of ABC.
