    Points on a Bisector

    ABC is a triangle with BAC=60,AB=5 and AC=25. D is a point on the internal angle bisector of BAC such that BD=DC. What is AD^2?

    Genius..

    Apply the cosine law in the triangles ABD and ADC with BD^2 and DC^2 and then equalize them ...substitute whatever it can be substituted and at the end you will end up with AD = 5XSQROOT(3). Then AD^2 = 75.

    It is not stated that D lies on AC and ahead of it, the answer wrong too.
