The ratio of similitude of two similar triangle is 3:5. What is the ratio of their areas?

please have a little help. I don't understand the problem on the term similitude..

If you have two similar figures, then you have a scaling factor for the sides, call it k.

Then the scaling factor for the areas is k^2.
