Thread: Area of a semi circle

i know that the formula for finding the area of a circle is 1/2pi(r^2)

now if i get an answer of 2pi and if i wanted to find half of the semi circle's area can i just divide 2pi by 2 and i would just get pi.... is that appropriate????

Yes, if you split an area into two equal portions, then each half has the area of the original divided by 2.

another question.... if i add

1 + 2pi + 4 would i get 7pi?

No, you would get 5 + 2π.
