2. ## Re: Gradient and Intersections

Hello, monkeee!

Much information has been omitted.

1. What is the gradient and the equation of the line AB?
2. What is the gradient of CD and equation of CD?
3. What is the point of intersection of AB and CD?
4. What is the length of the lines AB and CD?

Is all this true?
. . You don't know the Slope Formula?
. . You can't write the equation of a line?
. . You don't know the Distance Formula?

If so, you need more help than we can offer.
I recommend you consult your teacher.

You diagram doesn't give us much information.
. . Is $D$ the midpoint of $AB$?
. . Is $CD$ perpendicular to $AB$?
Are we expected to guess all that?

3. ## Re: Gradient and Intersections

Well yes, it is why I'm asking.
CD is pependicular to AB and that's all the information I was given.

5. ## Re: Gradient and Intersections

1 draw slope diagram AB. Slope is - 8/12 = -2/3
2slope CD = 3/2
3 use point slope formula to write the two line equations
4Solve them for point D the x and y satisfying both equations

6. ## Re: Gradient and Intersections

Thank you so much, but could anyone please give me actual answers to the questions?

7. ## Re: Gradient and Intersections

I gave you the slopes of AB and CD and now tne equation of AB
y=-2/3x +34/3 . You need to write equation for CD by using the point slope formula.Next solve the two equations for x and y.( intersection of the lines) Show some work

8. ## Re: Gradient and Intersections

Thank you, but that really is no help to me, I just need answers with working..
