Unused area in a figure
Hello,

i am having problems solving this problem with the information that is provided.

Person X has a rectangular plate with dimensions 52x58, and decided to create a box opened in the top in the following conditions

Attachment 23682

with only this information, it asks me to calculate the unused area of the plate!

I dont think i can solve it with only this information =(

I assume that the unused area consists of the white squares and rectangles. If so:

$A_{unused} = 58 \cdot y + (52-y) \cdot y + 4x^2$
