Math Help - Parent cone of a conic section

    Parent cone of a conic section

    I know that circles are an exception but other than that given a conic section is it possible to map it back to a unique cone (i.e subtending a fixed steradian at apex)
    If not does it mean that any conic section can be produced using any cone?
