Actually I think it question is worded quite clearly.
Here is some notation to add in the discussion.
Let $\displaystyle \{H\}=\overline{GC}\cap\overline{AE} $
For lengths of line segments let $\displaystyle AE=\text{ the length of }\overline{AE} $.
Now $\displaystyle \text{the area of }\Delta AGH=(0.5)(GH)(HA)$.
The area of the trapezoid $\displaystyle \square EHCD=(0.5)[ED+CH](HE)$.
Add those together.
