24.A quarter of a rectangular tank is filled with oil. The space remaining in the tank measures 80cm by 14cm by 8 cm. Find the Volume of the tank.

26. 3/4 of a rectangular tank, measuring 40cm by 12cm by 4cm is filled wif water a cubic tank of side 20cm is filled with water to the height of 6 cm. The water in the cubic tank is then transferred to the rectangular tank. Can the rectangular tank be fully-filled? If your answer is yes, what is the volume of water left in the cubic tank?

If the rectangular tank is 1/4 full, then the remaining unfilled space is 3/4 of the total volume of the tank, so,
(3/4)V = 80*14*8
V = (80*14*6)/[3/4] = 80*14*6*4 /3 = 8960 cubic cm. ----------answer.

If 3/4 of the volume of the rectangular tank is filled with water, then the remaining empty space is 1/4 of the volume of the tank.
This empty space is (1/4)*40*12*4 = 480 cc.

In the 20cm by 20cm by 20cm cubic tank, if this tank is filled with water to a depth of 6cm, then volume of the water inside the tank is
20*20*6 = 2400 cc.

If that 2400 cc is to be transfered into the rectangular tank, then only 480 cc of the 2400 cc is enough to fill up the rectangular tank.
So, what will remain in the cubic tank will be 2400 -480 = 1920 cc -------answer.
