Finding the area of the shaded region.
Hi I'm a college student and I'm having a bit of difficulty with my Solid Mensuration homework. Can someone help me out?

I'm trying to find the area of the shaded region in the problems which I've posted pictures of in this thread.

I'm having a hard time because I think the data given is insufficient, but maybe I'm wrong so I'm asking for help :)

I've attached a picture of the problems I'm confused by.

What exactly are you trying to do? Please post the whole question, not just the pictures.

Edit: The OP has since edited his/her post.

I agree with you that technically the data is insufficient.
However, a good guess on #1 would be $(85)(42.5)-\dfrac{(42.5)^2}{2}$.

Do you see why?

Yes I see how it would be a good guess. I was thinking of the same thing but I was unsure because the data wasn't given.

Thank you very much for your help! :D
