given a shallow dish of oval shape top & bottom having a base smaller than it's top and in profile, shallower at it's center than at each end along the long axis.
Question: is there any way to geometrically lay out the sides similar to laying out a shape which when bent around, forms a flat bottomed cone ?
I have tried finding the shape using the various measurements of the dish and although I realise the final shape may be half one side, and must have a sloping top & bottom, I have been unable to develop any suitable formulae. Can anyone help?
