Geometry: Angles and distances
There is a carom board as shown in the figure. There is the queen at the center, which goes into the pocket as shown. Find the distance covered by the piece in the process.

If the image was reflected along the top edge there would be a atraight line going from the queen to the pocket - this gives us a right angled triangle.

Distance $= \sqrt{2^2 + 6^2} = \sqrt{40} = 6.3m$
