    Algebra Geometrically

    Use the concept of area to demonstrate geometrically each of the following properties for real numbers:

    (a) a(b + c) = ab + ac

    (b) a(b - c) = ab - ac, where b > c

    (c) (a + b)(a - b) = a^2 - b^2, for a > b

    Draw rectangles with sides of lengths a, b + c, etc. and compare their areas.
