    How much is x ?

    You have similar triangles: Triangle BDE is similar to triangle BAC.

    So:

    \frac{BD}{AB}=\frac{DE}{AC},

    or:

    \frac{AB-x}{AB}=\frac{x}{AC}.

    From which you should be able to find x.
