Math Help - expressions (volume, area, length)

    expressions (volume, area, length)

    I don't get these, and these questions always pop up:

    Here is an example:

    Below are some expressions:

    ?ab
    a + 2b
    ?aČ + b

    The letters a and b represent lengths
    ? and 2 are numbers that have no dimensions

    State whether each Expression is a Length, Volume, Area or None of These.


    I don't get how you do this.. What does it mean they have no dimensions, and what would each expression be?

    i'd say ?ab represents an area (it could be the area of a triangle, if we let ? = 1/2). a + 2b can represent a perimeter, of say, an isoseles triangle, i don't know if you would call that a length. the last one, i don't think represents anything

    the area of a triangle is 1/2 base*height. no squares are there
