Thread: perimeter of garden problem

Tom and Jerry decide to find the perimeter of their garden. Tom measures the length as 5.2 metres while Jerry measures the width as 370 cm. What is the perimeter?

i did 3.7 + 5.2 = 8.9 m is that correct?

I'm afraid not. The perimeter of a rectangle is twice the length plus twice the width. (P = 2L + 2W.) Care to try again? (BTW, good job converting from cm to m.)

would it be 3.7m + 3.7m + 5.2m + 5.2m = 17.8m
