1. ## Square inscribed in a circle, need some help (Probability!)

Hello everyone! I just joined, needing some help on my review packet for my test..... Given this image:

If the side length of the square is 3 times (radical 2) then what is the probability that if you threw a dart at random, that it would land outside of the square? An explanation would be great as well! Thanks

2. assuming the dart hits inside the circle ...

P = (circle area - square area)/(circle area)

I got the areas 9.424777961 for the circle, and 6 for the square.

Confirmed. The exact value is $\frac{\pi-2}{\pi}$.
