# Math Help - Finding The Value Of X in Triangle

1. ## Finding The Value Of X in Triangle

Find the values of x.

For number one...

Given: p ll q

For number two...

Given: p ll q ll r

Nothing given for three...

2. For the 1st problem:

x = 10

Because 3/5 = 6/x

Simplify that and you get x = 10

I'll work on the rest. Geometry isnt my strongest point

In 1 we have similiar triangles.
(x + 6)/6 = (5 + 3)/3
3(x + 6) = 6(8)
3x + 18 = 48
3x = 30
x = 10

For problem 2, we can set up a ratio between the outer sides of the two trapezoids:

10/5 = 14/x
2x = 14
x = 7
