First you have to break it into one rectangle in the middle and two semicircles on each side.

The area of the rectangle is

$\displaystyle 6in\times10in=60in^2$

The area of each semicircle is

$\displaystyle \frac{3^2\pi}{2}in^2=\frac{9\pi}{2}in^2$

Since there are two semicircles,

$\displaystyle \frac{9\pi}{2}in^2\times2=9\pi in^2$

Pi's approximate value is 3.14, so

$\displaystyle 60in^2+9\pi in^2 \\ =60in^2+9(3.14)in^2\\

=60in^2+28.26in^2\\=88.26in^2\\ \approx 88.3in^2$
