    Circular Cone

A regular circular cone of radius 10 cm and altitude of 12 cm is cut by a plane parallel and 8 cm from the base. What is the area of the section formed? What is the volume and lateral area of the frustum formed?

surface area and volume of conical frustum is a function of R1, R2 and h.You can find the formulas on line or elsewhere. define the values by using similar triangles for the smaller radius and altitude as the cut defines. plug them into the proper formula. You have as given the larger radius.
