Thread: Volume to calculate

Hi,
I have a pyramid which has a right triangular base, whose legs are 3.45 m and 2.01m. The height of the pyramid is 17.91m. What is the volume of the pyramid.

I am not to sure what to do when it's a right triangle base???

If you join another similar pyramid with right triangular base, you get a column of volume 3.45x2.01x17.91 m^3.
Then the volume of the required pyramid will be........?

I still don't understand. I am having trouble wrapping my head around this.

volume of a pyramid is 1/3 base area x height.To visualize for this case erect a perpendicular . to the triangle on a flat surface at the edge of the right angle.This is standing up. From the top point visualize two lines to the other ends of the triangleYou can also draw it.Notice that the figure can be replicated 4 times in all by rotating the triangle in three additional positions to form a typical pyramid. Area of base is 4 times the given. So the above formula holds true for this non typical pyramid since its volume is 1/4 of the typical
