    Ratio of Volumes

    Help please!

    A regular hexagonal prism is inscribe in a cylinder with a radius of 8. What is the ratio of the volume of the prism to cylinder?

    Since the lengths of the prism and the cylinder are equal, the ratio of their volumes will be the same as the ratio of their cross-sectional areas. So that's the ratio of the area of a circle of radius 8 cm to the area of a regular hexagon made up of 6 equilateral triangles with side 8 cm.

    Can you have a go at it now?
