    Confused with this triangle question...

    Please help meee!

    A right triangle has one leg four times as long as the other.
    Write its perimeter P in terms of the length x of the shorter leg.

    hi

    if the shorter leg is x , then the longer leg is 4x and since its a right triangle , you can use the phythagoras theorem to find its hypothenus which is x\sqrt{17} , so

    p= x\sqrt{17}+x+4x

    I don't get that, MA.
    Hypotenuse = SQRT(x^2 + (4x)^2) = SQRT(x^2 + 16x^2) = xSQRT(17)

    Perimeter = x + 4x + xSQRT(17) = x(5 + SQRT(17))
